Charlie Cervone
Music Licensing/Publishing Director/Bassist
I am a sync licensing director for an industry-leading production music house. I worked in the creative and sync departments at Universal Music Publishing Group prior, and have toured as a bassist with major label groups.
Everything I do stems from a deep love of music, its creation, and its place in human culture.
I started my career as an electric and acoustic bassist. I earned a degree in Bass Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston. I've shared the stage with artists including Gloria Gaynor, Phil Collen (Def Leppard,) N.O.R.E, Bazaar Royale, Kevin Hammond, Mieka Pauley, and AM Gold to name a few. I started my career in the music industry at Universal Music Publishing in New York, where I began in the "tape room." Here I administered UMPG's vast catalog and learned what it means to be a professional songwriter.
I eventually moved into an A&R role where I managed a songwriting roster of my own. Artists/writers I worked with during my time at with at UMPG include Desmond Child, Alex da Kid, 88 Keys, Five For Fighting, Mac Miller, Jon Vella, Jim Brickman, Manuel Seal, Peter Zizzo, Gary Wright, and many others.
These days, I serve as Creative Licensing Director at an award-winning production music company based out of NYC. We compose and license music in advertising, film, TV, video games, and multimedia. My recent placements include brands such as E*Trade, Mercedes, Franks Red Hot, Royal Canin, Apple Beats, and USAA. I continue to work as a session bassist, perform live whenever possible, and am a bass instructor.
